Nutritional Counseling

it is believed dogs have been domesticated for around 100,000 years and cats for only around 9,500 years. Modern pet food was introduced in 1890. Over the years, different pet food diets and controversy surrounding them have evolved. Today, we have a range of diet food. Not one diet is ideal for every dog or cat. Our veterinarians can discuss the pros and cons and help you make good nutritional choices for your pets.

Pet Foods & Pet Care Products

The primary foods of choice available at Sun Valley Animal Center are Iams, Eukanuba and Science Diet – both dry kibble and canned products. Prescription diets are available as well.

East Meets West Wellness Center

We have a variety of holistic diets available in our wellness center. Please consult with your veterinarian for the diet that best serves your pet’s needs.

Dog First Aid Courses

Sun Valley Animal Center offers two, three and four-month vaccination programs for your new kitten or puppy. A one-time purchase results in savings for the necessary vaccinations and check-ups. To enroll please call the SVAC Reception Desk, 208-726-7777.

Canine Sports Medicine

Many dogs place heavy demands on their musculoskeletal system. Just as professional athletes regularly work with trainers and sports medicine professionals, so should canines susceptible to the same types of stresses. Active family pets, competition dogs, working dogs and show dogs can all benefit from Canine Sports Medicine so that small problems can be identified before becoming big problems. Due to the extensive work in this field by Dr. Randy Acker, the Sun Valley Animal Center has earned a reputation as one of the top canine orthopedic surgery centers in the West. Please refer to other areas of this website for referral and more information regarding state of the art surgical procedures performed at Sun Valley Animal Center.

We do not require a reservation for daycare. We do ask that you bring a current copy of your pets’ vaccination records. Please call us for accommodation choices, rates and hours.

24-Hour On-call Care

In an emergency call 726-7777. A recording will page our veterinarian on call and he or she will respond to your emergency. We rotate this service with the veterinarians of our partner clinic – the Sawtooth Animal Center in Bellevue, ID.

Senior Health Program

Older dogs and cats need special attention because they can have special problems. Caring for them requires home and veterinary health care, nutrition monitoring and awareness of age-related behavior problems. Preventive veterinary care can add years to your pet’s life. Ask your Sun Valley Animal Center veterinarian about a senior health care plan if your dog or cat is over seven years old.

Microchip ID

Without proper identification 90% of lost pets without identification never return home. That’s why the Sun Valley Animal Center has joined the national network of veterinarians, animal shelters, and volunteer pet rescue organizations who participate in the HomeAgain pet microchip identification and recovery system. Our receptionists can tell you how to protect your pet with HomeAgain.
