Pet owners enjoying watching a new, playful puppy rough-housing and chewing on everything in sight naturally assume all is well.
But, during this time of happy play and teething, a very common and also very painful problem can occur.
When Shelly Scott brought "Gus" in for routine puppy shots, a fractured baby tooth was discovered. This fracture exposes nerve, can cause infection in the jaw, and also infection in the forthcoming unerupted adult tooth.
We all assume a happy, playful puppy is in no pain, an easy assumption since there are not visible symptoms - to us. An uneventful extraction solved the case and Gus was good to go.
