Frances, a female border collie mix, is a good example of why routine veterinarian exams can be life saving.
She happily accompanied her Mom Diana Dudley for a visit to Dr. Scott Acker for her routine exam.
Frances presented with no complaints or obvioius indications.
Routine abdominal palpation revealed a large mass in the cranial abdomen. Ultrasound further revealed a fluid filled mass in the area of the right kidney.
Abdominal exploratory confirmed the kidney to be hydronephrotic.
In emergency surgery the right kidney was removed.
Frances recovered uneventfully.
Her left kidney has taken over the function of both kidneys and she is expected to do well. |
